It feels as if there is always at least one restaurant (or local chain) that's commonly associated/unique with each major area.

Seattle-Ivars
Portland-Burgerville
Bay Area-Armodillo Willys or Inn n' Out
Philadelphia-Jim's Steaks
Miami-LoCal

Add to this list please. I

Chicago - Portillos, Giordanos, Lou Malnatis
Minneapolis - honestly I can't think of one. Caribou coffee?

I don't think New Orleans has one.

Baton Rouge would be Louie's.

Second Portillos, Lou Malnatis and Giordanos for Chicago. For Miami, Pollo Tropical.

I'm from Miami and never even heard of LoCal...

Miami staples would be

Versaille's
Pollo Tropical
Uncle Tom's Barbecue
La Carreta

oh, and one of my dad's favourite; Disco Fish

and can't forget about Rey's Pizza. Crappy pizza, great spaghetti.

Andddd Latin Cafe. Sorry I keep editing because so much is coming back to me but not all at once lol.

Portland

Voodoo Doughnut

Oregon in general; Dutch Bros Coffee

Minnesota in general; Caribou Coffee

coffee is a big thing in the northern states it seems..

Dallas? Umm the reunion tower restaurant?

Portland: Burgerville
Seattle: Dick's
Spokane: Zip's
Boise: Bad Boy

These are all cheap burger joints. My favorite is Dick's in Seattle/Edmonds.

In-N-Out never had a big Bay Area presence traditionally, it was more of a SoCal thing. For Oakland I'd say Kwik-Way (not sure if it still exists) and SF I'd say Mel's Diner.

I do think of Dick's when I think of Seattle, mainly because of "Posse on Broadway"

For Ohio it would be Max & Erma's in Columbus, Cassano's and Merion's pizza in Dayton, Skyline and Gold Star chili in Cincinnati.
