Love Cracker Barrel, for my money it's the best chicken-fried steak you can get. Love browsing the stores too. Plus how can you not love the triangle pin games they have at every table?
It's not my favorite show, but the minute I first saw Duck Dynasty I couldn't stop watching. Uncle Si is hilarious. Sad to see it go, but it had a good run.
Whole Foods. Lets just say I felt out of place when I went there for the first time. Did get a laugh out of the experience though. Kinda enjoyed South Park poking fun at it.
Guess I'm bi-polar
Yeah, it is typically Hillary voters who eat at Cracker Barrel, so there is nothing unusual about you. Rich and intelligent people tend to vote republican.

Go look at where cracker barrels are and overlay it with voting patterns. You are utterly wrong. Did you not even take a look at the link in the original post?

Market vs restaurant doesn't seem a good comparison.
Thank you. I found the thread title odd, so that's why I clicked on it.
I don't get the Ellen/Duck Dynasty thing, either. Never watched either.
I used to love Cracker Barrel if I wandered southward, although there is one now in New Jersey. But then I stopped eating meat, and Cracker Barrel's not really a good place for a vegetarian to find food, whereas Whole Foods is, so that's one form of clientele to compare.
I've got a Whole Foods within 15 minutes, but I really don't go there because I can generally get comparable items for less money in the same vicinity.

It's not the type of retail that they are comparing, its the clientele that each targets and how they differ so much and overlap so little.

A lot of this can be explained by the fact that Cracker Barrels often up on interstate highways, often in rural areas.

They are more prevalent in the south and Midwest. You dont see them much in the northeast and west coasts. They don't even exist in the SF area for instance and in DC you have to go an hour outside of the city. There's a total of 7 in the Atlanta area with 4 in DC and 1 in NYC. There is definitely a preference both from consumers and companies based on specific regions/areas.

And now you've managed to deride the South yet again, congratulations! Feel better do we?
Now you can sleep a little easier knowing you don't even have to see the dreaded Cracker Barrels in your precious and oh-so-enlightened D.C. Metro.
