Always thought of it as a wealthy state.
What surprised me is how many black people I have met from there.
It has the highest Per Capita income and the wealthiest metro area in the nation, so it’s a pretty rich state.
Meeting people from different backgrounds shouldn’t surprise you. CT has strong ties with NYC and has some very diverse cities (Stamford, Norwalk, Bridgeport, New Haven). It’s probably the most diverse New England state.
History. High taxes. High real estate prices. Pseudo intellectuals all wearing black turtleneck sweaters and stylishly knotted scarves and skinny jeans. Picturesque towns. Toll roads.
The beautiful Berkshires, the underrated shoreline; prosperous suburbs--Greenwich, maybe most high heeled suburb in USA, Goodspeed Opera House, high density; high taxes; Wesport the tony place Martha Stewart began her business in. Yale. Insurance capital of country.
Yet despite so many very pretty towns and villages , the ugliness of its cities--Bridgeport, Hartford, New Haven.
