Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island. Whenever I see a picture of it, it reminds me of all the stories I used to hear from my grandparents and their friends who fled Europe and the Holocaust. They always said that when their ships pulled into the harbor the first thing they saw was the statue and no matter what hardships they had endured, seeing that statue lifted their spirits and gave them new hope.
