I was wondering, besides the obvious example of San Francisco, what neighborhoods in the USA have lots of 19th/early 20th c. Victorian and Edwardian style housing, particularly residential houses and rowhouses?

Cape May NJ has the largest collection of Victorian style homes outside of SF. It was Americas first Seaside resort and the whole town is considered a national landmark and all architecture is preserved today see this link Victorian Cape May

New York has a lot of Victorian-era buildings but they're not made of wood and don't have all of the gingerbread detailing.

Many towns in upstate NY and northern PA had wealth in the Victorian era and not as much since. It still isn't easy to find web links to some of these areas because they're still not well off.

One example is the streets around the downtown of Cortland, NY The 1890 House Museum .

Another is the west side of Elmira, see Romantic Holiday Victorian Homes & Guided Tours. PRIVATE tour $12.00 per person. Victorian Experience, Elmira, NY Historic HomeTours. | Tour Bus info, Step on Guide, Victorian Home Tours, information, restorations, & MORE, Chemung County, in Historic

A smaller example, a bit of a surprise in a very small town is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maple_S...ison,_New_York) - driving through Addison on NY 417 you have no idea what's one block away.

Similarly, towns in the oil boom region of northwest PA still have a good bit of Victorian architecture. Victorian Region of Northern Pennsylvania

Looking it up Louisville, Kentucky apparently has something called "Old Louisville" that reportedly preserved much Victorian architecture. Their official site is hard to work, but one part of it isn't too bad.

Boston's South End also reportedly has a good deal of Victorian architecture.

"The Old West End" of Toledo, Ohio is said to have a fair amount for the Midwest.

This is all on looking stuff up.

Believe it or not, Manistee, MI has quite a few Victorian homes. As does Traverse City, MI and Mackinaw Island, MI. They were built by the lumber barons and the wealthier families back in the 1800's.

Both Minneapolis and St Paul have a lot of Victorian era homes, as both cities were boom-towns during the late 1800s. Of the two, I'd give the nod to St Paul because of the concentration of Victorians along eastern Summit Avenue and the Ramsey Hill neighborhood.
Here is one site I found with a few representitive photos:

Galveston, Texas. Apparently, around 1900 right before the Hurricane, Galveston was almost a 'world city'.
