New Jersey is definitely a very diverse state, coupled with its density of makes for an interesting salad bowl. The Rutgers campus is like a microcosm of the whole state.
Boston is also quite diverse. The Unis there like Boston College, MIT attract academics from all over the world, and they will bring along more of their countrymen.
DC if you consider it Northeast will bring many a diplomat and international community as they lobby our gov't for alliances.
Most of the diversity is in the cities. When the immigrants come, is much easier to find employment in the cities.
What are thee most culturally/racially diverse areas in the northeast besides New York city and philly.
So far...I've found out others areas like New Haven ct, Providence RI, Bridgeport Ct and Springfield Massachusetts to be more diverse.

I guess it depends on what your definition of 'diverse' is. Is it just that different groups live there or is it that these groups have created defining cultural impact in areas like art, business, food, etc.
Almost every city over 100,000 in New England is diverse in terms of population make-up. But I'd argue only Providence and perhaps Bridgeport have managed the second part.

Pretty much any city of 100,000 people in the region is going to have a good amount of diversity. Even some cities with less than 100,000 will offer that. If lower cost of living is a factor, then look at cities that are in Western MA, Upstate NY, Eastern and parts of Central PA.
