If in the $200K range, Denver is another good spot

If under $100K, Tennessee, Arkansas or Florida
you can live in Sacramento quite nicely if you earn under 100k

No...Kansas and Oklahoma are mismanaged, California is doing just fine. As far as trashy people I don't see any more in California than I do when I visit friends and family in Nevada, Missouri and Louisiana, to be fair I think every state has their share...

I agree every state has its fair share of trashy people. Never really got that point.

Yeah it's annoying. Both cities are growing fast but DEN has better mass transit, but more transplants trying to make it. Housing-wise forget it to both cities. Nobody in Nashville or DEN should be pay nearly L.A. rent prices.

California is waay more mismanaged than Oklahoma or Kansas (just because a state is super conservative doesn't mean it's mismanaged. California has the 2nd highest unemployment level in the country, a HORRIBLE COL/Wage ratio (basically Mississippi wages with New York COL in some areas) and ridiculous illegal immigration issues. Not to say it isn't a beautiful state with great culture and people, but it definitely is not a well run state.

Imagine what it would be like if it were- 4th or 3rd largest economy in the world instead of 6th or 5th (depending on the day) we just keep stumbling along not knowing what we are doing and yet somehow we always end up on top!

Nope, but it's one of the best states. It's not quite as good as Washington or Oregon.
