Asides from some stated negatives, Las Vegas still offers world class hotels, restaurants, shows and convention space.

That's very true... the Cosmopolitan is my go-to hotel, one of my favorite hotels ever, and I've had some amazing food in Vegas. Vegas can be cheap and sleezy but can also be very classy and chic. It caters to many different walks of life (that likes to have fun at least). It's definitely a one-of-a-kind place that you can't really put a label on, other than: exhausting. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I just couldn't ever live there.

Indulging and excesses of all kinds. At least that's what I did on my trip there.

This. And a deep, all-consuming cloud of sadness. Nobody has ever accused me of being a bluenose, but Las Vegas like Disney World for creepy and desperate people.
