Most underrated cities to visit (versus, vacation, park)

I thought it would be interesting to discuss cities that are underrated places to visit and take a vacation. Everyone knows NYC, L.A, Orlando, and Miami are top of the list D.C, Nashville, New Orleans and Philly are up there to. But I'm curious about cities that actually have a lot to do and see but don't get much travel attention. For me 3 cities come to mind, Baltimore, Cleveland and Tampa.
I honestly don't think either DC or Miami are as highly rated as you might think. Outside of the requisite class trips to DC I don't see or hear of many families making it a vacation spot (which is truly unfortunate in my opinion), and Miami has gone more below the radar (domestically anyway) versus theme park world (Orlando).
For 3-5 days...?
St. Louis (great for families)
Albuquerque (anyone)
Grand Junction (if you are active)
Baltimore/Annapolis (agree - maybe 2-3 days)
Kansas City (2-3 days)
How in the world are either of these underrated???

Yeah I guess that's true. When I took a roadtrip a few Summers ago to see Charleston, Savannah, Asheville, Columbia, The Outerbanks and a few other places it seemed many (at least in my circle) had not been to Savannah or Charleston. I was going to say Asheville, but lately it seems that it has been getting tons of attention-and may even be teetering on over-exposed/rated. I guess when you factor in how small Savannah/Charleston are, they are very well known tourist cities.
