Any single Africans able to tell me what their city is like and if they can recommend. I have money saved up need a place I can find a entry level job in Education or prison system. I am outgoing and love to party along with hiking and traveling. I just finished teaching abroad for the last four years and returned home to settle down. I am from a small town in Florida and need a change.
I can't help you but congratulations for being the only thread I opened on this forum where the person asking for advice on where to live ties it to the kind of work they will be doing. Good luck to you.
I am not African-American but know from reading on this forum and real-life experience that the Atlanta metro area is a good bet for well-educated younger AA professionals looking for a city vibe with an affordable cost of living, and a sizable population of similar folks.
i think it's more important to state what you are looking for in a city - what kind of weather do you enjoy; do you want hot/sunny; snow; rain; mild; any? How big of a city are you comfortable with? Many major cities are increasingly unaffordable for those just starting out - will you need a roommate? Do you want to be near friends/family?
My favorite spots (personally) are in the west coast- you can pretty much find any climate you're looking for (high desert, mountains, valley, coastal) but is pretty expensive
I am open to all weathers and mainly just want to go somewhere with other transplants. I would love to meet others who are not married without kids. My hobbies include watching plays, going to games, dancing and anything else that gets me out the house. I have been out of America for so long I want to catch up on many things I have missed out on.
everywhere has transplants - unless it's really small city. Most major metros have a larger single population as many that are married and/or have kids end up moving to the outskirts .. City data itself has all kinds of info on city stats, suggest looking there and see what sounds interesting. then when you find a few good contenders go to those cities forums and ask.
