I would like to know your opinion on the best small city, 20k-100k, in the southwest. I'm a man in my late 40's, blue collar, I don't need extreme heat, or cold winters. I'm looking for diversity, a happening downtown area, living wage jobs, availability of different ethnic foods, friendly people. Which city would you suggest?

Bull Head City because of the lake and proximity to California

Did you look at Las Cruces? It's at the high end population-wise (just over 100K) but think it fits your criteria well. I just don't think those on your current list are going to fulfill much of your wish-list.

Prescott, AZ is a much nicer small city than any of those on the poll in my opinion. Warmer than Gallup and Farmington, cooler than Kingman and Bullhead City. There is a lively downtown and the population is growing quickly as it is a popular retirement destination, so I would think there are a lot of construction jobs.

Bullhead City in particular would be a really bad choice if extreme heat is a concern, as it's regularly over 110 degrees this time of year. Prescott is typically around 90 in the day and 60 at night in midsummer.

I don't speak Spanish, so I think it would be difficult for me to find work there. Any thoughts on Roswell or Alamogordo?

I passed through Socorro once. While it has beautiful scenery, it is a bit to small for me. Any thoughts on Alamogordo or Roswell?

I am unfamiliar with Prescott. I will have to give it a look. Thanks.
