I display a small American flag and a small flag of my state on my desk, using a three-hole stand. I have the American flag on the viewer's left and the state flag on the right. So far, so good.
But now I'd like to add the flag of another country to the display. If I put that flag in the center hole, it would sit higher than the American flag, which is a no-no. But if I put the American flag in the position of prominence in the center hole, then there would be a national flag to the left of the U.S. flag, and also lower -- which are also no-nos.
