Below is my unscientific, non-researched rankings of COL among cities that are considered techie. Is there any city that shouldn't be there or did I miss a city? Rankings off? When researching jobs in software sales, these cities seem to pop up the most.

SF Bay Area
NYC
LA
Boston
DC
Seattle
Denver
Portland
Minneapolis
Austin
Atlanta
Raleigh-Durham

Raleigh-Durham is a glaring miss and probably on par with Atlanta in terms cost of living, plus around midpack in terms of average salaries.

No, I thought you were creating a list of major tech hubs and then seeing which ones have low COL. The Bay Area obviously doesn't have low COL.

I would say that Dallas is a tech hub as well.

It is certainly growing.

This is anecdotal, but I had the same amount of opportunities in my field, with the same salary, in Minneapolis as I did in Denver. Markets seem very similar in size, opportunity, and salary.

The difference is the type of companies hiring. In Denver, it is more about the start ups. In Minneapolis, it is more about the Fortune 500 companies and corporate headquarters.
