Things I experience when being in California for exemple: needing less sleep to feel rested, better energy during the day, less aches, easy to get up and move, more positive state of mind and clearer thinking, easier to focus, etc.
This is all compared to the eastern half of the U.S. I had a funny experience driving from Colorado to Memphis when I litteraly felt the transition from the Westv to the East before aproaching Oklahoma City.
It would be very interesting to know if other people feel the difference health wise, and I am not only referring to artritis, more to amount of sleep needed and energy levels during the day.
I have been looking in the eastern half of the U.S. to find a place where I feel that energy I experience in California during my visits. Nothing compairs, not South FL in the winter and not the North in the summer. There is something heavy in the air that I can not explain and it's not just humidity.
The reason I was looking east is the proximity to Europe where I am from. It would make my travels shorter. However, health is more important for me and I am willing to relocate anywhere west (currently living in Memphis) if there is really no hope in the East. Isn't really?
Your ideas would be greatly appreciated, looking forward to suggestions !!
SoCal here. I have had one cold since 2005. True.
Sunlight nearly every day keeps me happy. Happy people are said to be more disease-resistant.
I do not remember having a single mosquito bite in at least 20 years. That avoids diseases, too.

Don't even get me started on mosquitos! As far as sunlight, what puzzles me is the difference between the sun in Miami for example (even in the winter time when it's dry) and the sun in SoCal. Sunlight in different places make me feel different. Have you ever noticed this nuance?
I totally agree that good info helps and have done some research myself. It did not give me answers .
Personal experience is valuable to me. Subjectivity is less limited in how far can go in finding answers. It is necessary sometimes. Thanks for the link, very interesting. For some reason, I see the west half of the U.S. looking better
Happy, stats aside I think you're talking about the "vibe" you feel in California. I feel the same thing whenever I visit and it does energize me. It may be psychological as one poster stated, but feeling positive and upbeat is an important part of being healthy too!

I would agree somewhat. I moved to New Mexico partly because of the quality of the clear sky at over 5,000 ft. elevation and very low humidity. The quality of sunlight is different under those conditions compared to high humidity and hazy skies in the Midwest. As a photographer, it is very noticeable to me. You can also be burned to a crisp if you are not careful...not from high temperatures but the sunlight. People born and raised in New Mexico or even the West Coast might not see the difference.
Due to less humidity the air is crisper and clearer in the West, just look at mountain views from Pikes Peak vs Mount Washington. However it would not have any affect on your health
