What cities do you know where air quality is heavily influenced by wind direction?
The impact can be positive or negative, I need both types of examples.
Please consider any kind of polution that can be carried toward a city or away from it.

Steep elevation rises downwind caused pollution to get stuck.

San Francisco - very clean air because it all gets blown east.

Sacramento - very dirty air because smog gets blown from the west and stacks up against the mountains

Coastal Southern CA - cleaner air, gets blown east.

Inland Southern CA - dirtier/polluted air, stacks up against mountains from winds from the west. When Santa Ana winds kick in and the wind direction changes from east to west it's remarkable how much clearer the sky looks.

These are perfect examples!
Would Costal Ca have the cleanest air you can find in the West because of the west to east winds ?
Would Arizona for example, be affected by Ca polution?

I would think coastal OR and WA would be cleaner as there is less development and rains more. Mountain air might be cleaner too than coastal air since it's lighter/less dense so maybe less likely to trap pollutants, not really sure.

I've never heard of AZ being affected by CA pollution. I can see how it would be possible though since they say CA can receive pollution all the way from China.
