It seems like their are some cities in this country that people seem to either love or hate. For example, I would say that Los Angeles is a city that people tend to either Love it or Hate it. What cities come to your mind as cities that seem to be either loved or hated?

Definitely LA. New York used to be that city until the past 15-20 years. Las Vegas probably qualifies also. Most Canadians I've spoken to (who don't live there) hate Toronto.

Houston
New York City

Both cities take more crap from people who are not from Houston or New York City than any other 2 cities in the country.

Los Angeles. People expect Los Angeles to be a clone of other cities they like. Often criticized for the massive sprawl, somewhat suburban nature, car centric lifestyle, small skyline for the city size, lack of rail public transport, not walkable enough, not super dense in a core like Downtown where all shopping, clean, upscale like other cities.

Anyway, Los Angeles is what it is. I cant think of any other city like it. And people either love it or hate it.

That's why. Despite being urbane and historic, something about the city doesn't excite as much people as you would expect. It's nightlife is also very very tame for it's size.
