It takes all kinds, I guess. Michigan just doesn't speak to me in any way, and probably least of all in terms of natural beauty. Good beer, though.
What part have you been too? Southern Michigan is absolutely no different from the rest of the Midwest, very flat with a lot of corn and soybean fields. The southern half also has Detroit , Flint, Saginaw and those places are really unpleasant. The smaller towns are clean and nice but really no different than Indiana. The northern half has much different scenery, forest and water, amazing Great Lakes beaches. They are like two different states.
Wisconsin is quite similar to Michigan in many ways but IMO it's a nicer version because it lacks the amount of decayed cities. It does not have the same amount of Great Lakes beauty as Michigan but it makes up for it in its clean environment. While Michigan has the nicest tourist scene, Wisconsin would be a better state to live in if you were choosing between the two upper Midwest states.
Your right good beer up there ( both MI and Wi). Deep German heritage and culture, Midwest is americas beer capital. Canadian beer is easily available too, they know thier beer as well.

We're moving from Upper Michigan to Milwaukee in a few months and I couldn't be happier . Though if I could live anywhere in America it would probably be somewhere in a 30 mile radius of Traverse City, MI.

Traverse city is one of the nicest places in the entire Midwest. Hard to beat the scenery there.
Between these two, Michigan, although I'd generally be more comfortable with Arkansas politics. Michigan is just plain nicer overall. I also like the Great Lakes region far better than the Ozarks. I agree with the Wisconsin assessment. A cleaner and less crowded neighbor to Michigan.
Arkansas is underrated on natural beauty, but still falls way short to Michigan.
Yeah, how is this even realistically a competition. Sorry Arkansas but Michigan is a top-tier state.
