I'm definitely going to assume most people who say NY here have never lived in NY. it's expensive and you get nothing for your money. The city is disgusting and smells and the people are nasty. I'm from the Hudson valley area and it's definitely gorgeous when it comes to scenery but most people here IMO are house poor. The taxes and house prices in many areas are ridiculous. Most people want to leave. Statistic wise, NY is loosing people left and right. We are in the process of trying to leave as well
I agree with everything that you said , but you're describing New York CITY. The rest of the state is quite charming, affordable, very beautiful, and has some wonderful people. You couldn't pay me to live in NYC. The rest of the state I think is great!
1. North Carolina - Absolutely beautiful. Strong economy. Affordable. Great people. Love the climate.
2. Florida - Love the Central part of the state (Orlando, Tampa/St. Petersburg areas). LOTS to do. Very beautiful. Terrific beaches.
3. Virginia - Much like NC.
4. Pennsylvania - Great people and pretty state. Love its location.
5. South Carolina's Coastal Areas - Love the history. Incredible beaches. People are very friendly. GREAT food.
States I'd never want to live: California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana
This is a good list. I think the Tampa-Orlando area is massive underrated (Clearwater is stunning). Key West and Miami are also lots of fun. The north half of the state is basically Alabama, however, so on average the state doesn't crack into the Top 5
North Carolina would likely crack my Top 3 were it not for (1) its regressive state legislature and the fact I'd be living in a pseudo-democracy and (2) the fact that Charlotte and Raleigh don't have the historic stock or beauty you'd find in a Richmond or Charleston
South Carolina has two great areas (Charleston, Beaufort, Hilton Head and then Greenville). The rest of the state is meh. Especially Columbia, Myrtle Beach and the Augusta/Charlotte suburbs.
