Huh? There are "hundreds" of universities in the Raleigh region?

You known 9, or 100 it's a number greater than 0!

Duke
NC State
UNC

NC Central
Meredith College
Shaw University
Saint Augustine's University
William Peace University
Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary?

Don't forget the following:

Wake Technical Community College
Triangle Real Estate School (They need to find their hipster housing!)
The Chef's Academy (Amazonians need to eat in the cafeteria!)
Strayer University (More online degrees and certs!)
Southeastern Free Will Baptist College
Shepherds Theological Seminary (Bezos devotees need to pray to their God, the all mighty Jeff!)
MyComputerCareer (Need I say more!)
Miller-Motte Technical College
Living Arts College
Harris Barber College (Code writers need their hipster haircuts!)
Care One Health Training Institute

I don't even think the Boston Metroplex or the Philly Metroplex have a total of 100 colleges/universities each and they are probably the two metros with the most.

As for what "The_General" said: I was just going to say the exact same thing (in response to what "Minivan Driver" said). That is, it was already stated that the reason Amazon is looking for a second headquarters is not to be a distribution center or warehouse or factory but a location for executives and management staff (and their lower support staff) and possibly other professional types (e.g., software engineers, programmers, tech support staff, et al). Such staff are not the type who are unionists; they are not deemed to be "laborers" nor "tradespersons" but rather "professionals". The executive in charge of Amazon Web Services, for example, would not be a unionist. So it is very highly unlikely that "Right To Work" considerations would come into play in Amazon's decision-making.

This list says 101 within 50 miles of city hall in Philadelphia (not all are within the metro technically and some are community colleges etc.) I think there are more than 250K students overall and more if you include some of thee ancillary schools
Colleges near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Colleges and Universities

Yeah, looks like 102 for Boston and 96 for Chicago, as well. Only 33 listed at the same radius for Raleigh.

Nah it'll still be NYC and LA due to sheer size, but yeah those are high on the list and way more than Raleigh...

oddly U of Delaware was not included and is well within 50 miles but am sure there would some for all the metros

U of D is a decent sized school at 20-25K

I would think Boston and Philly may be tops on this category of schools (sheer number also many great quality)

Let's play Amazon roulette.

Place your bets. Looks like all the betting is on two Texas metros, one VA/MD metro, one Georgia metro, and one WA metro.

No more bets. And the wheel will land on...

Some colleges in Boston aren't doing well. Wheelock was absorbed by Boston University. I don't think Fisher is doing well. Suffolk and Emerson have been rumored to have merger talks.
