My first is by state (Oregon), then region (Pacific Northwest) then larger region (Westerner). The "American" part is pretty much understood, although when I am traveling it depends on where I am - in any part of Asia I can say "Oregon" and they know where that is, in Europe I just say "West Coast" and while the assumption then is California, it's close enough.

I've been disheartened with my county enough that I have considered leaving, but this country is my home. I was born here, my child was born here. My mother's family has been here since the late 1600s (and, by family rumor and my own DNA test, there is also some Native American in there), my father's family since the mid-1700s.
