Many small towns and rural areas don't have much of a skilled job base.

I live in a small town in northeast TN. We don't have a concentration of high-tech, high skilled jobs. Many jobs are low end - think retail, food service, home health aides, call centers, etc.

Those jobs are going to be vulnerable to automation. We aren't building that tech in small town America.
