I agree that humor in the south is great. I think a lot of it comes from the honesty of southerners; if something most would consider embarrassing happens to them, they have no qualms telling everyone they know, usually with embellishment. All I can think of is the movie 'Steel Magnolias;' the women in that film are perfect examples of southern humor. I am reminded of my grandmother from Alabama who would say absolutely anything on her mind, which was never rude but ALWAYS hilarious.

My grandma, who has alzheimer's, embarrassed the daylights out of my sister when she tok grandma to the doctor. The nurse came in to who my grandma says : My, you're as black as the ace of spades, aren't ya? The nurse just giggled and went on. Gotta love the elderly!
