That’s a cute little jab at the state slogan but there seems to be some truth to the reluctance among native born New Mexicans to leave. Many have large extended families and I’ve never lived in a more family oriented place. I don’t think that many people even travel much outside of the state let alone migrate and resettle someplace. As a New Mexican by choice I feel much the same way, as do most of the transplants I know. I guess it is a benign entrapment.

It can be, I agree. Especially as obsessed as so many are with saying the name of the state. It seems to be inserted into every third sentence.

There are some people who travel, but most people I know there think any drive over 20 miles is too much and can't comprehend leaving the area.
