I just wanted to posit the question: although the United States is a very nomadic country, are there any states or regions where you've noticed the locals tend to stick around? Due to culture, tradition, or convenience?
Years ago I met a girl from New Mexico who said it was the “Land of Entrapment” in that most people who grew up there never leave or move back eventually. She lived in California at the time and moved back a year later. Also met a girl in KC from NM who moved back. Just personal anecdotes but I do think “Land of Entrapment” is considered to be a thing.
I think I read an article a few days ago which mentioned that the top three "sticky" state's are Michigan, Texas, and California. Cannot remember if it was for Natives to those states or just any residents.
Louisiana, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Iowa and West Virginia have the fewest residents who move away. All have 70% or better numbers for those who never leave.
