Walkable has nothing to do with owning a car. There is nothing that prevents a person from walking if they do own a car.

Also, most people go out of town at some point on vacation or for work.

A lot of liberals like the Haywood Road 'West Asheville' area in Asheville.

There is a growing 'village' neighborhood in Greenville in an old retail store area called The Village of West Greenville:

The Village of West Greenville · Arts District

You keep mentioning areas or villages... most of the "city" in places like NYC,SF, DC are walkable...

I don't think a lot of 'walkable' areas up north are safe or visually appealing with nice housing in the area.

It seems to me you've rigged this discussion to favor big cities with more people and larger footprints. Obviously bigger cities have 'more' of everything, but the OP never framed the topic in terms of quantity.

'More' is irrelevant if a person can only live in one spot. If a person wants a walkable situation, he or she can get it in the south.

Nah... you're just trying to make the South relevant in a topic it clearly lags in compared to the Northern Cities.. if this was a cost of living discussion or how much square footage you can get in cities, the tables would be turned and that would be ok because it's for the most part true. And visually appealing is a matter of opinion once again.

Your assertion that south 'lags' is your opinion. I know a lot of people would prefer to live in downtown Greenville than Adams Morgan.

Nah.. it's you vs. everyone... at least have some sense to understand when you're clearly the odd man out and wrong. Everyone is posting examples and you constantly reply with nothing or some random rhetoric.

By everyone, you mean a few people on a forum with your general views on things. Always talking up their northern cities as being superior places to live but then call other people 'homers'.

Your examples included talking about mass transit as though this proves walkability.

Northern Cities in general are more walkable and if Greenville was as desirable as you say then why is it a small city? People should be flocking there, but more people live in places like DC and NYC. goodnight.
