I am a sophomore in college here in New Jersey majoring in IT. I plan on relocating somewhere out west when I finish college and get an IT related job. I need to get a summer internship related to my field. Three primary states of interest are Washington state, Oregon, and California. I also applied here in NJ as well. I think I should open up to other western states as well. Also, since I won't have a car out west (I'll take a plane), I'd prefer to have my internship in a city, because I won't have a car to drive and enjoy the outdoor activities the west coast has to offer. I got two rejections so far. One of them was Amazon in Seattle, WA and the other was a company in NJ (won't say what it is). I am thinking of other states I should be open to out west. I need an internship that offers free intern/corporate housing for the summer.

GE, Raytheon, Amazon, Google all come to mind when it comes to corporate housing and relocation for interns.

But, IT is a broad term. Do you want IT Consulting? A Salesforce Analyst position? A developer role? Maybe you have aspirations to be a sales engineer?

Nail down a criteria, and focus on companies that have that need. The rest will follow. I'd be remiss to mention that you may find as much opportunity in Eastern cities like Rahleigh, Boston, D.C., or Atlanta. Unless you really want to experience the West Coast after you graduate..

Yeah I am desperate to move out west when I graduate. I need to get internships out there so I can really network with people there. I think that's really important. Well, to me, it doesn't matter what IT position. I don't have my mind set on a position, but when I did apply for internships, I always read the requirements. I have strengthened my resume and had it checked, because my work experience is weak since I only had two jobs (they were retail jobs)
