Raleigh, NC

Air quality seems better here than where I lived in Texas.
Straight shot to the beach.
They don't tax my life away or regulate me into oblivion like NY did.

Providence RI

1- Beautiful architecture in walkable urban neighborhoods
2 - Proximity to the Rhode Island coast
3 - Progressive city with pretty good urban planning (bike paths, urban redevelopment, commuter rail, freeway removal, etc)

Albuquerque:

1) A unique local culture that makes the place feel distinct, including the cuisine.

2) Ease of living. Everywhere is easy to get to, park at, and commutes are short.

3) Although the job market is limited, it's often easy to advance in your career because there aren't a million people competing for the same opportunities.

The high desert landscape is nice too.

Midland, Texas: I'm hard pressed to say anything good about this isolated town but here we go:

Little traffic compared to most major cities

Within driving distance to 2 major national parks (Carlsbad Caverns and Big Bend)

TSA lines are a joke at its airport (godsend, as i travel a lot thanks to a lack of stuff to do here)

Howard County Maryland (in between DC and Baltimore):

1. Natural beauty nearby. I can drive to the Chesapeake Bay or to the mountains in Western Maryland in 2-3 hours tops. Shenandoah NP, Assateague, and many beautiful state parks are a short drive away. My local state park Patapsco Valley is 15 minutes from my house and has great hiking and mountain biking trails.

2. Close to Baltimore, DC and Annapolis. Museums, aquariums, two nice zoos, good and varied food, embassies (most embassies have great open houses once a year, and some have fun parties for their national holidays and to watch soccer games during the World Cup). There is always something to do.

3. People. I know this one might be controversial because this area has a reputation for either type A personalities or lazy bureaucrats, but honestly I've found that you can find nice people wherever you go. We have wonderful neighbors who are caring and fun to hang out with.
