Actually no. The general consensus (whether openly acknowledged or not) is that the complex will land in DC or NOVA. All rumblings and tremors point in that direction, and that certainly isn’t lost on any of us.
Don’t confuse optimism with conga lines and confetti in the Atlanta forum.

No one has claimed any such thing. Most posts I've read there are very fair about the chances of other cities. I personally think that they're leaning towards the DC area.

No, that's the DC forum by far.
In the thread in the Atlanta forum, folks are mostly considering the transformative effect HQ2 would have on the urban landscape in downtown or midtown.
This is really all we care about. Amazon coming to Atlanta just puts into hyper drive what is already happening in the urban core.
I like your wishful thinking, but the truth is a down-sized HQ2, likely going to either Texas or the DC area. This was my prediction from the beginning. There is an outside chance that HQ2 will be called off completely, or delayed, but this obviously would cause some bad PR for the company. Should be interesting as we close out '18.
Intel and Microsoft both announced large expansions into Toronto today.
I still say Boston or Washington but I have heard some talk on TV that the long delay maybe a good sign for Toronto. Some have said that Amazon is waiting for the Canada/US NAFTA deal to be signed and then announcing Toronto the winner which they dare not do before the deal is signed or Trump would go ballistic. Some have also said that if Toronto is the choice then no announcement will be made till after the US mid-terms as Toronto announcement would feed into Trump's narrative that Canada gets spoiled and play into Trump and Republican hands and Bezos hates Trump and doesn't want anything that could bolster his support amongst the average working American.
Choosing Toronto would still be a PR disaster. Boycott Amazon would be heard in the US and ironically, help unite Americans on at least one cause. Yes .... Trump would be livid and his base. But it would ripple into all political arenas.
I don't know why Toronto wants more Americanization. A more cut-thought competitive corporate environment to compete with the rest of its corporate scene.
But would hail it as a arrival even more for Toronto in NA and used to boost it internationally. But still very doubtful Amazon wants such anti-sentiment of the level that could developer in the US.
Amazon could still funnel more a presence in TO. As it has thousands to Vancouver already. But to call it a HQ2 .... would not be in its best interest in this era.
Just my opinion.

This may be a recent phenomenon as all signs have been pointing towards DC lately, but I agree with the other person. I followed the Atlanta sub for a while after the announcement last year and they were 100% certain that their city would be the chosen one and scoffed at others who thought otherwise. The basic argument was, "Of *course* Amazon is picking Atlanta, look at our awesome airport! Logistics!"
