Calling people names doesn't seem non-chalant to me. But more importantly, it was more like a scolding vs. a denial, something Amazon has usually done.
If they're pissed that someone spoiled the reveal, then fine, I can understand that. But I can't say it doesn't serve them right for how this entire process has played out (which was also unorthodox).
LOL, that's pretty mild mannered. I'm not sure I would even call it name calling. It's not like he called the guy a douchebag, or anything. And I have to agree, it's dumb to get arrogant before an announcement is made. No matter how likely you think an outcome is.
BTW I think some of this is all "planned drama" from Amazon. Nothing like a controversial tweet to get people interested, especially since a lot of people had lost interest in the past few months. Just look at all the free PR they get from this.
It's seems like a pretty good spot to me. Some keys, plus and minus:
--One subway stop away from Reagan International. ++
--Two subway stops from the Pentagon and three from L'Enfant Plaza just south of the Capital Mall. ++
--A large volume of housing within walking distance. (Holy god to be a current condo owner there if it's chosen.) ++
--If there's a lot of office vacancy, great. But is there room to grow much (big lot next to Metropolitan Park?)? Would they lease a ton of current space and sublease it until they need it, or risk not getting it later? +/? (though of course it would have to be a ++ if they take it)

And those who complain about the high cost of housing in Arlington can take the Silver Line out to the less expensive housing out in Loudoun.

Yeah because those young people who love taking public transit are just dying to live in Loudoun County
