For me I'd include San Diego in the left coast though I know it's not liberal. Missouri and Arkansas are more deep south than Appalachia.

I love the idea of NYC region being it’s own country... I wish.

But I don’t think Long Island should be split like that.

Well, I lived in 5 out of the 11 so-called "Nations".

Born and raised in Lackawanna County (PA) Yankeedom
Lived in Dauphin County (PA) The Midlands
Lived in Pima County (AZ) El Norte
Lived in Durham County (NC) Tidewater
Lived in Richland County (SC) Deep South

I thought Northeastern and South Central PA were somewhat similar, except for the Amish in Lancaster County of course.

Definitely felt the difference between Durham County (The Triangle) and Richland County in South Carolina.

Very interesting. This map always seems very logical to me. One glaring issue is the exemption of Suffolk County from New Netherlands. That, to me, makes no sense. If all of the rest of the metro area is in New Netherlands, then surely Suffolk County, a HUGE suburban county, can be in it too. Potentially add New Haven County to New Netherlands. Also, Northern New England and Southern New England should not be in the same region together, and neither should be placed with a vast swath of the Midwest.

I also disagree with not including all of NEPA in Yankeedom. I do not see what really differrentiates, say, Pike County from Luzerne (in terms of regional placement).

Greater Appalachia seems huge and reaches too far north. Appalachia certainly should not basically surround St Louis. Also, not all of South Florida feels very Caribbean/Hispanic. The rural counties definitely don't. It does make sense to have the Miami area it's own region. It is definitely a distinct mix of cultures (not in a bad way at all) down there!

Only the southern third of Delaware should be Tidewater. It may have historically been like that, but that middle third has developed lately.

I know it is tough to draw the line between Dep South and Appalachia, but Nashville isn't really Appalachian. It is a mix of deep southern and Appalachian culture, definitely erring towards the Deep South. That's just a comment, though. Otherwise, the border between the Deep South and Appalachia seems well-drawn to me.

Also, how is Texas Appalachian??? I don't get that.

The SoCal coast is part of Mexico? Clearly colored in by someone who has never been there. Inland areas, maybe, the coast...no.
