Nothing too specific. Not overly crowded, but I do like the idea of a mid sized city. I am more conservative so I would prefer a place that's not really liberal though its not a disqualifier.

Twin Cities perhaps?

Or Chicago?

Those both have a decent theater community.

There's also NYC, but the cost of living is quite expensive.

The other thing is to go abroad entirely. How about the JET program in Japan?

I have considered JET actually.

I think NY and Chicago would be too big for my liking. Never really thought of Minnesota.

To be frank. Merely moving to a new place is not going to change your situation in any dramatic way.

My #1 recommendation is materialize a 5 year career goal. What field do you want to be working in and what job do you want 5 years from now. And definitely include income projections with that.

NOW from there you back track and outline a 2 year goal that would get you towards your 5 year goal.

And then from there you outline your 30 day/60day/3 month/6month/1 yr goals.

Goals are your compass and provide your direction. Combine and build them and they draw your journey. And without one you will never get anywhere. Personally I categorize mine in career, health, social, human capital.

Before you move anywhere though, I HIGHLY recommend you put together the career map I outlined above.

Anybody who has made the move from the north east to the west? What have your thoughts been?

I moved from NY to Austin, TX. That's the furthest west I've ever lived. It was a new world of paradise compared to upstate NY. You can actually enjoy your life out that way lol.

What has been your favorite part of being there? What is the job market like?

I just did a little research and Minneapolis ranks as one of the top theater cities in the U.S. Most of the other cities on the list would probably be too big and expensive for you.

Would you consider Cleveland? It has as lot to offer and some of the best theater outside New York.

Playhouse Square

My Toronto family drives down in five hours give or take and a flight takes an hour so you would be not far from there. Cleveland is one if their favorite cities to visit and they travel all over. The COL is very reasonable.
