I found this interesting, and am not surprised by much of it. I know there will be many who disagree, but, as individuals, we don't have all the tools to evaluate. SO, all we have are our biases and homerism, to dispute these rankings. I was surprised by North Dakota, but, really, what do I know.

For that category, it was rated 6th. The criteria was laid out, so it is what it is. Otherwise, it ranked pretty low. The numbers are there, before you, so if you know better, you should dispute it. Stats are stats.

Iowa comes out on top for infrastructure, due to high scores for internet access, public transportation, commute times and bridge and road quality
Does Iowa have a very extensive public transit network? Seeing NH as “#1 for Opportunity” and TN for “#1 in Long Term Fiscal Stability” we’re also pretty weird.

Not that I know of. Their largest city, Des Moines, has an MSA of about 610,000.

I also don't get what this "Opportunity" ranking is all about.

I love Minnesota and am happy to see the state getting some great rankings and recognition. Within the next 3-5 years, I will be moving there.

I also like how California isn’t in the “top” for anything, overrated indeed.

LOL "Iowa is the best state in the country, according to the second annual 2018 Best States study from U.S. News & World Report" Well, the first sentence in the report sure weakened their credibility.

This is also a load of shyt: "Colorado and Utah take the No. 1 and No. 2 spots on the economy, respectively, which factors in GDP growth, unemployment rate and a state's business environment" I live in one of those states, and the job market is horrible, not to mention the unnecessary income tax and cost of living. I keep seeing companies leave because of the rising cost of real estate and costs of doing business here. The USN&WR folks must be on drugs.

It's hilarious too that they completely left out TX, one of the leading growth and economy states. There wasn't a single instance of the TX in the various rankings. They're obviously biased against, and probably jealous of, TX.

You know these reports have to shuffle the list each time right? Otherwise, they'd lose interest. It's not about accuracy, it's about attracting attention and promoting sales. They're also into repeating myths, such as CO doing so well (getting kickbacks for the encouraging PR?)
