Texas, by FAR. Even in international settings they will refer to themselves as Texans rather than Americans. People in the North identify more with their cities than states ie. Philly, Boston, Brooklyn.

I definitely agree with the Texas part, but being in the military, and interacting with people from all over. New Yorkers in General are not overly proud of their state. It might be due to the fact that most are conservative, and don't agree with the liberalism of the New York government.

As a Minnesotan (as you are also) I’m not sure I agree that we brag about being Minnesotan. We defend it, definitely, but don’t overtly bring it up in casual conversation whenever we have the opportunity.

Of the other places I’m aware of from this list, I’m not sure Ohio belongs either, esp. outside of the sports world. People in Ohio are generally aware of how much disdain the state and its cities get from the rest of the US, so like MN there can be some fierce defending from the residents but not a ton of bragging (excluding this forum though).

In my personal experience, people from Texas, California and New York can’t help themselves when it comes to representing their home states. However, with CA and NY it’s usually reps from the big cities talking, not the smaller towns. If I had to generalize a region that boasts the most about where they live, I’d vote the South, led by Texas.

Coloradans are a bit proud of their name. Californians have to be careful out West saying they're from there as some locals blame them for all of their ills. I know a few from Michigan that don't say it all the time. The other states I don't have much famililiarity with.
