We currently live in Portland, OR. We are exploring beach home options from Southern Cal up to the Oregon Coast. Initially, our max budget is $600k. Based on experience, are there any hidden gems or deals in the beach community along I-5?

I-5 is only close/next to the ocean in San Diego County and you're probably looking at a 1 or 2 bedroom condo for that price.

Have you visited Cannon Beach? My husband and I loved visiting there when we lived in Seattle.

If you're looking for hidden gems on the coast look around both Gualala CA and Fort Bragg CA. You'll find plenty in your price range.

Fort Bragg, CA and Eureka, CA would be a couple suggestions, though Eureka isn’t really “beachy” but is located on the ocean and near all the pretty redwoods.

Technically neither are along I-5, as I-5 is NOT a coastal interstate at all. You’re better off looking around Hwy 101 (like Eureka & Fort Bragg), as that’s the coastal Hwy along CA & Oregon.
