While I agree regarding Tysons Corner VA others like Rosslyn VA, Bethesda MD and Silver Spring MD have more the construction/population density of Buckhead.

Yes, DC reminds me of many European cities in that the impulse to go vertical is there but is restricted to areas outside the city (or district) proper.

I could see the SouthPark area in Charlotte as a area similar to Buckhead. SouthPark is a neighborhood inside the City of Charlotte, just like Buckhead is in the City of Atlanta, even though SouthPark does not have the skyscrapers nor transit aspect that Buckhead has. It does have a very large upscale mall with tons of offices in the area with around 40,000 employees.

I noted Tysons Corner previously on another thread regarding it's similarities with Buckhead.

The population density is actually higher in Tysons Corner if I recall from my research.

Buckhead is often called the "Beverly Hills of the East" or the "Beverly Hills of the South."

If there is a "Baby Buckhead" out there, SouthPark is it.

Tysons is much more similar to Perimeter Center than Buckhead. The only thing they have in common is that they both have two large malls and highrise office towers. Tysons doesn't have 50 story mixed-use towers and multiple luxury hotels.

Tysons is the typical Edge City like Perimeter Center, Buckhead is Atlanta's 'Uptown' with an actual core and historic neighborhoods. There are not really similar at all.

I think Perimeter center is more like Silver Spring or Rockville and Buckhead/Tysons/Bethesda are a pretty good comparison with all 3 having lots of wealth, luxury shopping and being urban suburban in form with lots of sleek highrises.
