Soho in NYC has that Buckhead vibe, only it's less dense.

Buckhead is like Tysons Corner. 2 luxury malls with metro stations, urban suburban in layout and both have lots of wealth.

Buckhead is like Beverly Hills.

Buckhead is the “Beverly Hills of the South and the East.”

They definitely share key features but being that Buckhead has had MARTA stations for a lot longer and is part of the city of Atlanta, it also means they have key differences--especially since Buckhead is more than just the commercial heart of the district. After thinking about it a bit more, I'd say the most accurate way to describe it in comparison to places in the DC area is as a cross between Tyson's and Bethesda.

I'd agree with that. I previously stated that both Tysons and Bethesda remind me of Buckhead. All three areas are big employment centers, have high wealth, are urban suburban in layout and are prestigious shopping destinations.

Buckhead and Highland Park are the moneyed district of each of their respective cities. With nearby sections of Uptown Dallas and the central expressway corridor with towers and commercial districts, not an exact replica, but much, much more similar to Buckhead overall than the North Dallas/Addison area. That is more akin to Sandy Springs and Dunwoody and the northern perimeter of Atlanta.

Tysons Corner is much more akin to the northern perimeter areas of Sandy Springs and Dunwoody than it is to Buckhead. Agree with previous posters that Bethesda would be the more equivalent DC area to Sandy Springs.

As far as the old moneyed wealth of the city and leafy mansion filled lanes, Mountain Brook Alabama and Buckhead share similarities. Of course Buckhead's skyline is more impressive on its own than downtown Birmingham.
