Similar pattern in Dallas -- Mesquite, Garland, parts of Irving, etc. These are areas that are predominately suburban bedroom communities with strip mall retail, but lacks the corporate relocation that places such as Plano and Frisco have been receiving. Richardson is sort of exceptional in that it did experience decline but is now starting to benefit from corporate relocation. The question then becomes -- what if these companies in Plano, Frisco, and Richardson decides to leave?

Chicagoland suburbs. The state/major roadways are stacked to the brim with shopping centers, so they'll severely suffer. Just had this conversation when we were back there.

In Mass, shopping centers are very isolated due to strict zoning. In a good majority of communities, you will never see a strip mall/fast food restaurant in the fabric of the town. Generally, they are pushed toward the highway or along one major road. This should fare well as the retail apocalypse sets in, but even now, I think it really helps with the aesthetics.

also in places of means and demand, these large lots will be developed in new ways


some mixed use, some residential some commercial some even logistics as delivery gets closer and closer to near real time from tech delivery




Others will fare far worse with huge blighted lots


some areas are already seeing retro-fitted old strip malls


there are many potential re-uses sadly generally not enough to fix all
