My boyfriend and I have lived in VT our whole lives, I am 26 and he is 27, and we are looking to make the move to somewhere with better year round weather (hoping for no more snow and temps ranging from upwards of 50 degrees), as well as a lower cost of living. We will be renting and want to stay below $1000 a month. Some other things we hope are
-Small town feel
-Shops, restaurants close by (possible walking)
-Wineries, breweries
-Lots to do outside, hiking trails, parks
-not too rural

I am a teacher and he works for Comcast, so we are hoping finding jobs will not be too much of an issue. We have considered a few states but haven't locked down any towns/cities in them. Virginia(norfolk area), South Carolina (close to charleston), North Carolina, possibly Savannah GA.

Any help is much appreciated!

A good bit of the places on your list like Norfolk, Charleston and Savannah are going to exceed your $1000 a month budget within the majority of desirable options. For a smaller town within budget that has some walkability with nice shops/restaurants/breweries etc I would recommend Athens GA.
