^ my list too, but I don't like DC. Replace it with Seattle. And Miami is cool, but it has no real economy.

Second would be conservatives. The last election is actually what pushed me back to the West Coast. I just canít deal with Republicans. Sorry, the South (and Missouri), but youíd be a much nicer place to live if you were more liberal. I understand there are liberal CITIES but Iím talking on a state level.
Too expensive is absolutely #1 for me. I'm also too old for roommates. If you want to have any sort of a life you need at least some money. Just getting by or struggling is a lousy quality of life.

Ultra right wing or ultra left wing are awful in my opinion. Extremism on both sides is bad.

Looking at the list, some of those options would never be on my radar as a place to live so they never come up. Of course, if a place is too expensive it would not be on my list in the first place. Basically, I would want no weather extremes but four seasons with undeveloped/wild land in view is my main interest in a place to live (being retired). Otherwise, I can manage almost anything except right-wing, bigotted Bible-thumpers. That's part of the reason I left Missouri some years ago. I'm not a "city" person so I wouldn't do well in a large and crowded city but I could handle it (I grew up in one).
