Sandbridge Beach, Virginia is away from the Virginia Beach city and is right beside the False Cape State Park.

I love Maine in the fall. There are several hotel/resort areas such as the Spruce Point Inn that offer lots of bang for the buck. Boating, fishing, touring, lighthouses, biking, hiking, you name it.

I love this area for families. Also, I think any American kid would be enriched by the experience of touring the Historic Triangle - Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown. I grew up in that region and have since taken my kids and then grandkids to this area over the years, and they all love it. Virginia has so many coves and isolated state park beaches and saltwater rivers, the Chesapeake Bay, the James River, etc. that there are many choices when it comes to places to stay and things to do.

2 areas we LOVE are the NC mountains from Boone to Asheville and westward (the Blue Ridge Pkwy., waterfalls, whitewater rafting, hiking, state and national parks, Biltmore Estate, etc.). Delmarva Peninsula VA, VA Beach area, NC Outer Banks coastline down to Wilmington. Also the entire coastline from Charleston SC southward to Jekyll Island, GA. Some wonderful beaches in this whole area with affordable things to do and see.
