I don't really see anything surprising. Midsized Midwestern metros tend to dominate lists like this because of their more affordable entry level housing. I wouldn't have expected to see Minneapolis in the top 10, nor would I have Pittsburgh based on my impression. I would expect this to look different in a year with places like Grand Rapids falling out of the top 10 as population growth has outpaced growth of new housing over the last two years, leading to a huge inventory crunch, and a brutally cutthroat sellers market.
I keep seeing old high school/college friends on social media moving to, getting jobs, and buying homes in Des Moines. Makes sense to have this back up the trend. I think Iowa in general is really becoming to new cool spot to move to. I'd move there given the right job opportunity...actually have had many, but this was before I had opportunities in Minneapolis and Denver.

Yeah, out of the top 10 list, Minneapolis seems to be the biggest surprise
I guess millennials don't care about the cold, snowy winters lol.
Really surprised to see upstate NY cities on that list.
