The Beaches have transitioned to year round residents with all that entails, from demand for shoppes, to complaints about watermen and their "ugly" boats pulling pots.

That's definitely a bummer . I'm very much against the " gentrification" of rural areas myself .

On second thought , I must state that I've made a bit of a mistake by referring to the area I grew up in as rather peaceful , when the truth is that the whole swampbilly mindset of native Delmarvans contains a significant element of fighting and feuding IMHO .

Of course homicide rates in that neck of the woods aren't particularly high these days , at least not in Sussex County , but fights were fairly commonplace when I lived there .

My grandfather told me several tales of the feuds that our ancestors supposedly engaged in . For what it's worth many of the longstanding locals claim to be descended from pirates , which ( true or not ) shows a bit of a glimpse into the local mentality .

I suppose I might start up a thread about the Delmarva swampbilly community in the future ...
