Actually, Texas has gotten two futuristic military command posts in the last few years.
1. Cyber Command in San Antonio.
2. Army Futures Command announced within the past six months is going to Austin.
Both are logical because San Antonio is a big Military town with Fort Sam Houston, Randolph AFB, Brooke Army Medical and Camp Bullis.

Austin was chosen because its big tech hub, in a big military state near a huge Tier 1 research University.

What happened to Vancouver? Calgary only got on my radar during junior year in high school. (I had moved to another neighborhood in Houston that year.)

Top 3 are Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver, which were the only Canadian cities I knew until grade 11. Air Canada only offers flights between the Albertan cities to Houston due to the Energy industry relationship.

That's not relevant to the selection of the Space Command, it doesn't make sense in Texas though. Cyber Command and Army Futures Command are totally different types of command from a Space Command. The infrastructure, command, experience for those kind of operations is already in place in Colorado, and to some extent Huntsville. Texas has plenty of army and tech operations though. There's really no military space operation present in the State of Texas, only a few places really have it.

Alliance Data Systems is undergoing a leadership and HQ shift from Plano, TX to Columbus, OH.
The move will add an additional Fortune 500 to the city of Columbus and return the total number of Fortune 500 companies to 6. Columbus previously held 6 with Big Lots, however the company has been bouncing below and above the line for a few years now and currently is not in the top 500.

That's interesting, can't remember the last time I remember a F500 company leaving Texas. Looks like their new CEO is more oriented with the functions they have located there.

The Amazon Charlotte project was a year ago announcement and appears nothing more than a big distribution center. I think the Honeywell and more importantly, the BB&T/SunTrust are the biggest news for Charlotte in a LONG time. Honeywell would have been a nicer get 25 years ago when it was more in a growth mode but still its a $40bln revenue company.

Financially, Vancouver is a non-entity in Canada. None of Canada's top 25 corporations are located anywhere in BC little alone just Vancouver. Actually the city also has no manufacturing base either. It does have a decent sized and growing hi-tech sector and it's Port but for the last 30 years the economy has been supported by real estate and money laundering.
