Well he has been hailed as the savior and he did raise the stock price by about 33% in a few months. And he is positioning this as a beneficial move for consolidation and attracting talent.

But yeah, I don't like it.

Engineering giant Bechtel relocating to Northern Va after over 100 years of being in San Francisco.

https://www.bizjournals.com/washingt...-from-san.html

Not a surprise move since their CEO and upper management had been spending much of their time there since 2011.

150 jobs added.

Wow, I thought it was already here. They're constantly hiring in NoVa so makes sense.

I'm surprised that SC Johnson didn't move around Highland Park or Lake Forest. Skokie might be the furthest south for current employees living in Wisconsin to feasibly commute.

This shows that the Energy industry is consolidating to Houston. New Orleans is taking the brunt of relocations to Houston. Shell just consolidated some New Orleans jobs to Houston a couple years ago.

Quality of life may have something to do with the move. Outside of the tourist areas, New Orleans and Louisiana are pretty impoverished.

They left Chicago for the same reason when they moved to Denver, the last CEO traded Hinsdale for Colorado. Live by the sword...........

Boston's going wild. They really need to get the RER/S-Bahn up and running soon.

McDonald's had acquired majority stake in Chipotle and then spun it off. A house a few houses down from an acquaintance in suburban Chicago was sold by an officer of Chipotle when it was spun off along with a few other McDonald's holdings. Chipotle would not be a fraction of the company that it is today without the huge infusion of McDonald's money that was invested in the company for expansion; there was certainly a Chipotle presence in McDonald's HQ at the time in Oakbrook.

Shell still abandoned downtown Houston in 2016. In a era most headquarters move into cores.

Shell moving 3,400 employees from downtown to west Houston | abc13.com

As Big Oil that boomed it seems to have left out downtown Houston .... luckily not the city. I would have hoped that Big Oil would have given back more to the city with investing in its core that it failed to make it a premier core in the Nation .... Yet. Always hope it will get there...... But even Uptown steals a lot. As most Top Shopping is there like the Galleria and International hotels. Just too far apart to complement each other better.

I could see more a Rail line ... heavy rail as in a elevated line uniting theses CBD's too for the futures. IMO. But takes planning and tax dollars. Look to a Dubai, Bangkok and Singapore for new elevated ideas.

Maybe Elon Musk and hid tunnel shuttle Chicago is getting. Seems he is financing the billion dollar project with investors that the city embraced and seems less red tape then some cities have. Still another idea to truly bring Houston more global recognition it craves. Connecting two cores to complement each other. Of course, you want more guaranteed ridership of people along this corridor and living in them to use it.

I'd say these before a Dallas Houston one even? Much less distance to get a boost from.
