Good question, as some may go with “old money” neighborhood, high rise or brownstone/row house city living too.

I grew up in northern New Jersey my entire life. Newark is a city outside of NYC where the black population is really high. Most blacks in North Jersey are not rich, but you have middle class neighborhoods like Bloomfield in Essex County that has a lot of blacks. Bloomfield has an Indo-Caribbean store, but remember that's not African American, that's an Afro-Caribbean. Bloomfield is not for rich people, but most neighborhoods in Essex County are rich and white, while I've seen many blacks doing things around these rich white neighborhoods.

There were already examples from NNJ earlier in the thread(Teaneck, South Orange, Maplewood, parts of Englewood, etc.). West Orange and Piscataway are a couple of other NJ communities with substantial Black populations that are solidly middle class and likely includes those that are “rich”.

Seeing as though this thread is 6 pages long, it's obvious that several people care. And in America, people have the freedom to "self-segregate" by race, ethnicity, SES, religion, occupation, etc. Why does it bother you so? This is the forum to discuss subjects like this. If you don't like the thread, just keep it moving...it's not that difficult.

Parts of Windsor and Bloomfield in the Hartford CT metro area would fit.

A poster mentioned Olympia Fields IL, which is a south Cook Co. suburb of Chicago. It's population is slightly more than 50% African American, and its zip code (60461) is one of three majority African American communities which rank among the top 5% in the US for median household income and share of adults with college degrees.
