I don't find Fla to be anything like CA, or anywhere in the West.
As someone who's lived in both, you're right. It has too much influence from the Northeast and Southeast, and the Caribbean Islands and Latin American in parts of the state to really be anything like California. Both Florida and California also have a lot of midwestern influences, but California moreso, and California is far enough away from the more established population centers of the East to have its own identity and culture that it developed and has that unique frontier mentality that you see more in the West than anywhere in the East. Florida is a lot closer to where the majority of Americans live (east of the Mississippi) and developed a lot later than California did.
California could be its own country it is so diverse and different from the rest of the US and Texas seems to be its own little world, not fully Southern or Western but more of its own region by its self. Just a non bias take but a non native America.
Florida belongs in the south. I think states like Idaho and Montana could fit in the south. Conservative white people.
Silly. If you are basing you assumption on "conservative white people" you would have to include Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, and a good chunk (land wise) of Oregon and Washington.
I would bet you breakfast that the conservatism of the people in these states is a world of difference compared to the conservatism in the southern states.
New Hampshire could be a Western state, aside from the physical size. Mountains, guns, libertarian-leaning Republicans, fairly non-religious, not much of a distinct accent AFAIK.
The southern half of New Jersey has more in common with everything south of it than it does with northern New Jersey.
South Jersey looks and feels a lot like suburban Maryland
