Hi, I'm a newbie when it comes to the U.S, I don't know much about anything besides the state names, cities etc...

Currently I live in Toronto Canada and I'm planning to move to U.S A.S.A.P. The only problem is there is too many choices and I'm in a dilemma here. I did research and came up with places like Houston Texas, Arizona and a few others.

Not to make things too complex, I'm simply looking for the following:

*A place with low crime rate

*A peaceful and very private place

*A feeling of detachment from the city ruckus yet its very close at the same time

*Housing is very affordable and you get a lot for less

*Job market is very good

Like I said, I'm a newbie and quite frankly, any info/advice from experience is better then examining all the statistics IMO of each state.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or opinions!

Harrisburg, PA area: Low crime rate, affordable, but easy access to major east coast cities like Philadelphia, New York and Washington. One of the strongest job markets in the Northeast.

Why on earth would you want to come here from Canada at one of the worst times in this country's history? So may people are actually looking at moving TO Canada at this point.

StuckPA; Because Americans tend to hate their country while others are clamoring to get here. That's why.

Arizona and Houston both have REALLY high crime rates.

I'd recommend Louisville, KY; of course I'm a little biased

I looked at the link... I'd hardly call it "REALLY high." Maybe a little above average is more appropriate. What do you expect from the nation's 4th largest city...
