oreganja is the place to be.... people just get fined and it's pretty easy to get a medical license.

It is legal in California.
Look up the Compasionate Use Act and Senate Bill 420 (ironic that they used 420 isnt it?)

I hope it gets legalized in NJ, they are considering it for medical use, but untill then I am a trained massage therapist, has your dad tried this approach? there are many eastern disaplines that deal with a drug free approach to managing chronic pain. I hope he gets the help and relief he needs regardless of how. good luck

Less than 1 ounce of pot is now legal in Mass.
This past November, Massachusetts voters passed a referendum legalizing possession of marijuana (under 1 ounce). The law went into effect January of this year (2009).

It's as legal as saying you feel "better" [ie. not depressed\ relaxed\ no pain, etc] to a doctor to get a prescription in California. The concern is that teens are getting medical marijuana without having to notify their parents. People smoking marijuana on the street is noticeable downtown LA but most of the guys are hobos but also outside clubs in Hollywood. I don't think it should get anymore access than it is right now. People don't get busted for small amounts of weed & those who need it for "relief" can get a doctor's order. Making marijuana any more available is not wise, IMO. I've worked with high school students who obviously smoke before school. They are lazy & often preoccupied or silly, poor concentration & lethargic.

Does anyone know about the laws in Nevada? I have heard they are very strict, but at the same time it has been on some of the decriminalized lists on here.
I would think Nevada(the land of gambling and prostitution) would have very loose laws, thats why I love it.
