South Louisiana had a lot of Italian immigration especially the New Orleans area. Several of my friends have Italian (and SPanish from Spain) ancestry and they are full of Southern pride and support the rebel flag. Italian Americans here are accepted as fully and authentically American.
I did know some people in West Virginia who claimed that Italians weren't white, though, but they weren't racist against Italians. They still viewed Italians more favorably than Mexicans.
My girlfriend is Lebanese and she is about as white looking as everybody else that is European. Many Jews and Christians from the Middle Eastern have European DNA and look white. I do not care if society does not consider them white. USA is obsessed with race and who is white or not white.

I suppose the next question might be what one considers "white" but I don't really care to hear the answer to that and anyways who TF cares...
You are not kidding. Next thing we know, someone will pull out Germany's 1930s textbooks with head and nose shapes and start giving us a lesson on "who is white and who is tainted."
I don't think so. However, if this question was asked about 60 years ago, then yes in some parts. Italians(especially Sicilians) were even lynched on occasions in the South. There is a popular Sicilian-American rapper out now named Russ. He is Atlanta-based(though was born in New Jersey). He's self admits as a white person, but could pass as a Puerto Rican or some other widely perceived non-white group.
You know some of them? I have never met one that I know of.
Their opinions are widely available on the internet. I do know some racist rednecks though, and they have zero problem with Italians.
