Just back from meeting a few neighbors at the bar down the street after putting the kids to bed and thinking how nice it is to be able to have a few beers and walk home. Is there a place like this where you live? Is that important to you?

There are a handful of bars here in Saudi Aurora, but the closest ones are in Southlands, and it's a good mile walk from the hacienda. No neighborhood watering holes.

My house? No. There are places you can live in Vermont where there are bars nearby, but I imagine the answer is mostly "no".

Yes, there's like 3 within a couple minutes walk.

There's a couple dive bars within 2-3 blocks of my building, a cafe/craft brewery shop in 2 blocks, and a more upscale bar 1.5 blocks away. If I ever want to grab a drink without going all the way downtown I easily can.

You need the alternative answer to "I live in Utah".

I live in WI.

Of course I have a bar nearby. Several. One can't be more than 50 yards from my house. We regularly meet friends there and leave the kids at home with a walkie talkie .

No, we don't have one within walking distance and no, it's not important to me. In fact, I consider it a plus that we don't have one within walking distance.

We do have a library within walking distance. And a grocery store, drug store, several locally owned restaurants, coupla gyms, etc.
